Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad resigns after reports of halted crude loadings

▸ Iran’s vice president for communications and information said on Sunday, 4 October that Mohsen Paknejad’s resignation as oil minister was accepted by Masoud Pezeshkian. Mehdi Tabatabai wrote on X that Hamid Bord has been appointed acting oil minister. Bord had been serving as deputy minister and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company. The resignation comes amid a U.S. maritime interdiction campaign—reported to have entered a second phase on 14 July—that has sharply reduced Iranian oil exports. The U.S. Treasury secretary said on 30 September that “Iran loaded zero barrels of crude onto tankers in September” and added that the Trump administration is cutting the Islamic Republic’s “most vital source of revenue.” (Sources: Vahid Online and Radio Farda (Telegram)) Iran’s oil minister resigned after revelations that crude loadings had stopped.
