Iranian oil minister steps down

Iranian oil minister steps down Iran's oil minister Mohsen Paknejad has resigned, the president's office said in a statement on Sunday, amid long queues at petrol stations caused by the ongoing war and US sanctions. Paknejad, a member of President Masoud Pezeshkian's cabinet since August 2024, gave no reason for his resignation. Hamid Bord, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), "has been appointed as acting Minister of Oil by a decree from the president", according to a statement carried by Iran’s state media. Bord has held senior positions at NIOC and previously headed several of its operating units, including the National Iranian South Oil Company and the Iranian Offshore Oil Company.
