My first meeting with the Martyred Leader was in 1356; at a time when, embodying one of the most influential enlightened clerics and fighters, he had been exiled to Iranshahr. At that time, along with a group of Kerman students, we visited him and were his guests for several hours. He treated us very warmly and intimately; just as he engaged with youth during his leadership. Hope for the future and self-confidence permeated his words and transferred to the listener. Those days passed and I, in the years following the triumph of the revolution, continued to seek opportunities to benefit, in various positions, during his periods of responsibility in the presidency and leadership. I always spoke with sincerity and frankness, and with affection and kindness, each time I encountered helpful points in addressing the nation's problems and people's needs. My last in-person meeting was in spring 1404; a day when, invited by one of his dear children for a conversation...
