CENTCOM: US forces began naval blockade of ships traveling to Iranian ports

U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, announced that U.S. forces had resumed the maritime blockade of ships traveling to Iranian ports and coastal areas as of 4 p.m. Eastern Time. In a message on the social network X, CENTCOM described the move as a response to what it called “recent and unprovoked Iranian attacks on commercial vessels and civilian crews,” and added that the United States holds the Islamic Republic responsible for these attacks. According to the statement, more than 20 U.S. Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft are currently deployed across the Middle East, and U.S. forces will remain “vigilant, ready, and combat-capable.”
