The Economist: Many European countries to miss NATO defense targets by 2035

The Economist reported that many European countries will not meet NATO's target of allocating 5 percent of gross domestic product to defense budgets by 2035. The report states that with growing concerns over Russian threats and the possibility of reduced U.S. military support, European countries must strengthen their defensive capabilities. Research also shows that countries closer to Russia have increased their defense budgets more significantly than other countries in recent years.
