Reuters: Qatari Tanker Al Kariyat Carries Liquefied Natural Gas

Reuters reported, citing four informed sources, that the liquefied natural gas tanker "Al-Khaleej," belonging to Qatar, was targeted and sustained serious damage while transiting through the Omani section of the Strait of Hormuz. According to these sources, the incident occurred following reports of missile fire by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at commercial vessels transiting through this waterway. Based on the report, following impact on the left side of the vessel, its engine room caught fire and dense smoke prevented further damage assessment by the crew; however, all crew members are safe. Reuters wrote that this is the first time since the start of the war in March 2024 that a Qatari LNG-carrying vessel has been targeted. Reuters also wrote that the vessel's location corresponds with a warning issued by the British Maritime Trade Operations organization. The organization had announced that a tanker east of Oman's coast was targeted by an unidentified projectile and caught fire.
