Reza Pahlavi delivered a speech at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Dutch House of Representatives

Prince Reza Pahlavi called on Monday, July 6, for a review of Western policy toward the Islamic Republic during a speech to the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Dutch House of Representatives, stating that support for the Iranian people is "an investment in the security of the Netherlands, the stability of Europe and the Middle East" that would produce trade instead of "terrorism, instability and refugee crises." In his address, he said the Islamic Republic is "no longer merely a challenge in the Middle East" but has become "a European and global challenge," and he urged the Dutch government and parliament to assume a more active role in formulating a European strategy against Iran's government.

• Pahlavi presented three main pillars for his request to Dutch policymakers: maximum support for protesters in Iran, particularly in areas such as free internet access where, according to him, Dutch technology and expertise could create "real change"; maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic through sanctions, diplomatic isolation, full implementation of designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a terrorist organization, and "targeted military action"; and preparation beginning now for a transitional period with political, constitutional, and economic programs for Iran's reconstruction.. Pahlavi's remarks represent his most direct appeal to a European parliament for concrete policy shifts and military considerations regarding Iran since intensifying his political activities in recent years.
