IRGC commander praises Iran’s medal haul at Nagoya 2026 Asian Games

Iran won 19 gold, 18 silver and 15 bronze medals at the Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, which the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander described as a meaningful display of will and self‑confidence by Iranian athletes, particularly amid what he called a critical wartime context; he said the results added another distinguished chapter to the country’s history. He said the team’s success amid pressure and sanctions humiliated Iran’s opponents and showcased national dignity and the spirit of the nation.

He highlighted female athletes’ achievements, noting that women won three gold medals at this Games compared with five golds in previous editions, and called this a sign of women’s growing capacity and status.

He offered thanks to every champion, medalist, coach, technical staff and their families, congratulated the Iranian people, the sports community and the national delegation—whose name he said honored the martyrs of Minab—and prayed for continued pride, dignity and sporting success. (Source: IRIB)
