EU Seeks Closer Relations with GCC Countries

Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, wrote on the social media platform X that the EU is seeking closer relations with the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. She added that, in talks with GCC partners, recent regional developments and ways to preserve freedom of navigation in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea were discussed. Kallas also wrote that the Middle East is trapped in a dangerous cycle of attacks, retaliatory strikes, and fragile ceasefires. She described the Islamic Republic’s attacks on commercial vessels as “a violation of international law.”
