MP Says Strait of Hormuz Control Bill Nears Final Approval; Links NPT Exit Comment to International Law

An MP said a bill to manage and control the Strait of Hormuz is in its final stages, and will be submitted to the parliamentary presidium after its provisions are finalized, according to Manshur. The MP, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said the committee has reviewed the bill extensively. Manshur reports that a separate bill on countering infiltration is currently under consideration in parliament; of its 33 articles, 22 have been addressed, and the Strait of Hormuz bill will likely be considered afterward. The MP said the aim is to place management, control and command of the Strait of Hormuz—currently under the IRGC—within a legal framework.
