On Friday, July 10th, during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, Sun Li, Deputy Representative of China, called for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America. Emphasizing the necessity of respecting the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of both countries in accordance with the existing "Memorandum of Understanding" (MoU), he stressed that this agreement must be upheld. The Chinese Deputy Representative, referring to the necessity of lifting sanctions on Iran, underscored the importance of correctly distinguishing right from wrong. He added that Iran must remain committed to its obligation not to develop nuclear weapons; however, he emphasized that Tehran has the right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful and non-military purposes. In conclusion, Sun Li, while presenting China's impartial position for the settlement of issues, announced his country's readiness to play a constructive role in achieving a peaceful resolution.
