Tehran Municipality Presents New Plan for BRT Line One

Abadi, Director General of Engineering and Traffic Safety at Tehran Municipality: Given that we have been forced to remove the barriers along the BRT bus route on Azadi Street to Tehran-Pars Intersection during various ceremonies and events, it has been decided to use flower boxes instead of barriers so there will be no need for repeated removal. In certain sections, rail-type openings will also be installed to allow pedestrian passage and better route management during ceremonies and events, eliminating the need to remove barriers.

• Line 1 BRT is considered the ceremonial axis of the city and has special functions during various occasions
• The current plan covers only this route between Tehran-Pars Intersection and Azadi Square, with a total round-trip distance of approximately 34 kilometers
• Currently, there are no plans to implement this scheme on other lines. At present, implementation of this plan on other BRT lines has not been scheduled.
