Trial of ID-linked emergency fuel cards begins at 54 Tehran stations

A trial of “ID-linking emergency fuel cards” to modernize fuel distribution has started at 54 selected fuel stations in Tehran. The report says about 40% of the country’s refueling is currently done using stations’ emergency cards, and that the ID-linking pilot aims to speed refueling, reduce queues, remove station attendants’ gatekeeping, increase transparency of identity and location data, enable better consumption management, and prevent diversion of fuel. ▸ Under the new process described, a customer places their personal bank card on the point-of-sale (POS) terminal; after identity verification, they can refuel directly and more quickly without intermediaries. ▸ The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, quoted in the report, thanked the public for patience during this phase and said the measures are intended to improve service quality and protect national assets; it added that problems in the trial stage will be gradually resolved.
