According to Independent Farsi, it targeted a U.S. aircraft carrier and a U.S. destroyer. The statement said these vessels had been participating in a naval blockade and in obstructing the route of Iranian ships, and that following this attack they were “damaged” and “left the area of conflict.” The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also, citing CENTCOM’s confirmation of the clashes, described the operation as a response to Washington’s military actions and warned that if military pressure and the naval blockade continue, broader military responses will be directed at U.S. forces.
