UK Prime Minister said his government believes Iran had a role in the security incident near RAF Fairford

The UK government believes Iran had a role in the security incident near RAF Waddington, Prime Minister Andy Burnham told BBC reporter Chris Mason; he said strong evidence points to Iran’s involvement but police investigations remain "complex and serious" and the government is working closely with the United States.

Iran has strongly denied any connection and called media coverage "Iranophobia" in the UK.

Burnham, attending the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, said "we are in control of the situation in every regard you can imagine" and that "we will provide more information at the appropriate time but we can confirm our belief that Iran had a role in this incident."
