U.S. Defense Secretary Visits CENTCOM Forces; Axios Report Says He Met Netanyahu During Unannounced Israel Trip

The U.S. Defense Secretary said he visited U.S. military personnel at U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). In a post on X, Pete Hegseth wrote, "As always, today I had the honor of visiting our service members at CENTCOM. The best of our country are on a historic mission." Hegseth did not provide further details about the nature, objectives or specifics of the visit. Earlier, Axios reported that Hegseth met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, October 19, during an unannounced trip to Israel, according to VOA Persian (Telegram).

This unannounced trip took place with eight days remaining until Israel's election, and at a time when Washington and Tel Aviv are reportedly in talks about a possible large-scale military operation against Iran, according to Jamaran.
