Iran: Intellectual Property Rules Must Be Formed Collectively

Iran at WIPO General Assembly: Rules for new era of intellectual property must be collectively shaped. The Islamic Republic of Iran, at the 68th session of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), called for the establishment of a balanced and inclusive system to prevent technological gaps among nations. Hassan Babaei, head of the Organization for Registration of Deeds and Properties, emphasizing the impact of technological developments on the distribution of economic power, stated that intellectual property rules must be drafted with the participation of all countries. Iran, while referring to its scientific and civilizational capacities, called on WIPO to examine the developmental consequences of emerging technologies in order to prevent knowledge inequalities. The Iranian delegation, alluding to the damage inflicted on the country's innovation infrastructure following recent armed attacks, stressed Iran's capability in rebuilding this ecosystem and called for WIPO's technical support in this regard.
