Meteorological Organization: orange alert issued for 12 provinces

An orange weather alert has been issued for 12 provinces, the Meteorological Organization said. The alert forecasts intensified rainfall today in Kermanshah, Ilam, Lorestan, Hamedan, northern Khuzestan, western Kurdistan and the highlands of Qazvin, Zanjan, Tehran, Alborz, western Mazandaran and Gilan. The agency warned that flash floods, overflowing seasonal rivers and urban flooding are possible outcomes of this weather system. Residents in the affected areas were advised to avoid travel and camping along riverbanks, riverbeds and drainage channels. (Source: Seda va Sima news)
