Iran’s opportunity to exit a war of attrition

According to Shargh, six months of war have neither produced a clear victory for Iran nor led to its definite defeat. The military and economic damages have been serious, pressure on the country has increased, and some of the capabilities built over the years for deterrence have been damaged. Conversely, the United States and its allies have also been unable to translate military and economic pressure into a final political outcome. Iran still possesses tools to continue resisting and to impose costs, but this reality should not be mistaken for having the “upper hand.” Perhaps the most important question for Tehran now is this: in such a situation, what does continuing the war add to Iran’s position and what does it take away?
