Hassan Rouhani's memories of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the martyrdom of Beheshti

Story summary

Ayatollah Khamenei asked Mr. Rouhani whether Nategh was still alive / The Leader heard the account of Beheshti's martyrdom from one of the guards / The martyred leader described their condition following the assassination attempt. One day before the Republic Party tragedy, an assassination attempt on Ayatollah Khamenei at Abu Dharr Mosque occurred, which was shocking and alarming for us. During those days when I was serving in his presidency, he described the incident to me and said: "During my speech, I heard the sound of an explosion and fell to the ground. I saw it had become very crowded and a number of people were fleeing, which made me worried that I would be trampled underfoot. Then some people came, lifted me up, and took me inside the car. When they placed me in the car, for a moment I thought my life had ended, and at that moment I thought about what I have that I am going away to that world, what do I have in the presence of God?" He beautifully described their condition to me in that moment.
