Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje'ei, the Head of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated on Saturday, September 20, during a meeting with a group of international lawyers and legal experts, that "war crimes" committed by the United States and Israel against Iran will be pursued in international legal forums. The Head of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic, while making this claim, added: "The perpetrators of these actions must be punished and pay damages." He further claimed, with reference to the issue of "avenging the martyred Imam," that the Iranian people seek the pursuit, retaliation, and punishment of those responsible for these actions. These remarks by Eje'ei are being published at a time when groups supporting the Islamic Republic, during the funeral of the former leader in Tehran and Mashhad, had called for officials to take "revenge" against the United States and Israel.
