Navy of the Army: an unauthorized tanker caught fire in the eastern Strait of Hormuz

What happened: A tanker described as 'unauthorized' caught fire after hitting a naval mine in the unsafe area east of the Strait of Hormuz and was unable to continue its voyage. (Sources: Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Defa-e-Pers, IRNA)

Attribution and uncertainty: The report that the vessel was an 'unauthorized' tanker and that the fire resulted from a mine strike is attributed to Iranian state outlets. Multiple state-affiliated sources—IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting), Defa-e-Pers, and IRNA—reported the incident but provided no independent confirmation in these accounts.

Details preserved from sources: IRIB and Defa-e-Pers reported that the tanker struck a naval mine and caught fire in the eastern Strait of Hormuz. IRNA similarly quoted the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran as saying a tanker struck a naval mine, caught fire, and was stopped from continuing its voyage.
