History of Iranian Currency; From Safavid to End of Qajar

With Iran taking center stage in global developments from the Safavid era onward, money and the issues tied to it also took on more complex dimensions; Iranian currency came under competition from other currencies, from the Indian subcontinent and later Japan in the East to Europe in the West, and it was not even spared the impact of the influx of precious metals from the newly discovered continent of America.
