Ayatollah Ali Khamenei present in Tehran on Monday
Ali Khamenei was laid to rest on Monday, the 15th of Tir in Tehran, accompanied by his daughter, granddaughter, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law. Participants in the ceremony carried banners and chants against Donald Trump, the U.S. president, and during part of the ceremony, stones were thrown at his images. Chants were also raised against Prince Reza Pahlavi, a prominent figure opposed to the Islamic Republic government. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran's former president, who had not been seen in public since the beginning of American and Israeli attacks, attended the ceremony. However, no images of Hassan Rouhani and Mohammad Khatami, two former Iranian presidents, were released, and reports indicate that none of the former presidents were invited to the farewell ceremony. Chants were also raised against any agreement with the United States. Abbas Araghchi, Iran's foreign minister, arrived at the ceremony site by motorcycle, and some sports figures were also seen among the attendees. According to reports, the coffins were transferred to Qom after the ceremony concluded, and are scheduled to be laid to rest in that city on Tuesday.
