German Foreign Minister: Iran must pay the cost of mine clearance in the Strait of Hormuz

Jochen Scholz, German Foreign Minister, stated on Monday that Iran must bear the costs of any international operation to clear mines from the Strait of Hormuz.

Scholz made these remarks in an interview with the newspaper "Handelsblatt" in response to a question about whether European countries might offer Iran financial incentives to secure Tehran's consent to carry out a mine-clearing mission.
