US Embassy and Consulate in UAE canceled consular appointments
The United States Embassy and Consulate in the United Arab Emirates announced that they have canceled all consular appointments in the coming days “due to the security situation in the region.” In a post on the social network X, the embassy advised U.S. citizens who had consular appointments for July 13 to 15 (July 22 to 24) not to visit these facilities. In addition, it was emphasized that the embassy and consulate remain under a “ordered departure” status; this means that non-essential U.S. government personnel have left the UAE and routine visa services remain suspended. The decision comes as, following the collapse of the understanding between Washington and Tehran, Iran has increased its attacks on its Gulf neighbors, including the UAE. The United States, which in recent days has carried out multiple strikes on positions in Iran, also announced on Monday that the maritime blockade of Iranian ports would be resumed.
