As calls for "blood vengeance" and "killing the assassins" dominated conversations at Ali Khamenei's funeral ceremony in Tehran, Foreign Minister Araghchi says "American threats" are obstructing the achievement of an agreement. On Tuesday, July 7, following U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to "finish the job" if no agreement is reached, Iran's foreign minister stated that negotiations to achieve a final agreement between Tehran and Washington will not begin if U.S. threats continue. Abbas Araghchi, Iran's foreign minister, wrote in a post on social media X: "If threats continue, negotiations on a final agreement will not begin. Respect your signature." His message referred to a preliminary agreement signed last month by Iran and the United States, which requires both sides to refrain from threatening or using force against each other. This message was published as Mohsen Rezaei, a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, emphasized on Monday the continuation of what he called "forceful" slogans and spoke of "blood vengeance" for Ali Khamenei and "sacred anger."
