Photos that ended child labor in the U.S

According to Tabnak, at the beginning of the twentieth century, millions of American children worked in factories, mines, farms, and workshops for meager wages and under harsh conditions. Lewis Hine, an American photographer and sociologist, recorded the faces and lives of these children and revealed a reality to the public that had largely been ignored until then. Hine’s photographs, especially images of children working in the cotton mills of South Carolina, played an important role in changing public attitudes toward child labor and pressured state lawmakers to enact work restrictions and return children to schools.
