Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, on Friday, July 19, in a telephone conversation with Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reviewing the latest regional developments, expressed concern about the escalation of recent tensions. Emphasizing the need to preserve the peace gains achieved in recent months, he called upon all parties to exercise "restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy." The Pakistani Prime Minister, stressing the importance of adherence to commitments contained in the "Islamabad Understanding," considered this document a sustainable framework for promoting mutual understanding and regional security. Sharif also reiterated Islamabad's readiness to play the role of an honest and impartial mediator in achieving lasting peace. Beyond security issues, the two sides agreed to seriously advance the process of bilateral cooperation that had been outlined during President Pezeshkian's recent visit to Islamabad.
