Benjamin Netanyahu: announced national security doctrine prioritizing preemptive strikes

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday announced a new national security doctrine prioritizing preemptive attacks, increased domestic weapons production and a stronger regional posture, Iran International reports. He said the October 7, 2023 attack plunged Israel into a broad war and that during military operations from Gaza and Lebanon to Yemen and Iran, Israel repelled what he described as an imminent existential nuclear threat and broke pressure from the Islamic Republic axis. Netanyahu said the government and security cabinet made measured decisions, the military and security agencies acted forcefully, and the home front resisted. He called the conflict a “war of salvation,” said it exposed the need to reassess Israel’s traditional national security principles, and added the developments have created opportunities to form new alliances regionally and beyond, according to Iran International.
