IMO Secretary-General Called Improvement in Strait of Hormuz Encouraging

Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, described the improving situation in the Strait of Hormuz as encouraging at the opening of the 127th session of the organization's Council, expressing hope that maritime trade in the region will resume. Protection of vital shipping routes is one of the main focal points of this five-day session, and Council members will review documents submitted by the Islamic Republic of Iran and several other countries regarding the maritime situation and seafarers in the Strait of Hormuz.
