Esmaeil Baghaei: Trump's Claim About Iran Agreement in Muscat is Not True
Ismail Baghaei: Trump’s claim about an agreement with Iran in Muscat is absolutely untrue / In the Muscat talks, no issue other than the Strait of Hormuz was raised. In response to a question about “claims made by the United States and Donald Trump alleging that the Iranians in Muscat agreed to everything, including the nuclear issue and the Strait of Hormuz, but then attacked ships two hours later,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said: Lying has become part of the behavior pattern of the U.S. ruling establishment, and unfortunately, they have become addicted to it. It is clear to everyone that Saturday’s talks in Muscat were focused solely on the Strait of Hormuz issue, within the framework of Article 5 of the memorandum of understanding. Our effort was to, in consultation with Oman, reach a mechanism that would ensure the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. We regret that, due to overt and covert U.S. pressure on Oman, this did not materialize. In Muscat, we were neither supposed to discuss nor did we discuss any issue other than this. Therefore, the matters that have been raised are absolutely untrue.
